About me
From the Penelakut Tribe and based in the Cowichan Valley, Trina Sxwithul’txw is a hybrid creator-leader and marine-management professional whose rooted connection to place and community is reflected throughout her work.
With over fifteen years of experience in ocean management, marine monitoring, and coastal-safety leadership, Trina brings a tide-tested operational discipline and systems thinking to her projects. Her experience in ocean protection and community-based monitoring continues to influence the way she approaches creative collaboration and production, with
precision, respect, and a grounded sense of responsibility to both people and place.
Parallel to her marine leadership, Trina has built a respected presence in film and television, both in front of and behind the camera. Her producing work includes short films such as Finding the Balance and Our Table, both of which were selected for film festivals, as well as serving as Associate Producer for the acclaimed, award-winning APTN
series Warrior Games and contributing Project Management expertise to Season One
of Tribal Police Files.
Some of her screen experience includes both current and early-career acting work, with roles in Fragile Seeds and Unnatural & Accidental, and early screen credits on the CBC drama Da Vinci’s Inquest.
Trina brings this rare convergence of experience, a creative professional who honours her community, culture and environment, who bridges science and cinema, and whose work continues to amplify Indigenous leadership and coastal voices through powerful, grounded creative expression.
